Quick Update

I got a call on Wednesday (April 29) from William my contact at AT&T that he called his contact in staffing and got her to email me the link to finish my application so they can start my background check but I'm not sure if that means he got me to the next step or skip a step? I guess I will find out more soon. I'm glad I got the call because that means they have not forgotten my application. Keep praying I'm sure it's working.

On a another note. I canceled blockbuster Online and switched to Netflix to try them out mainly because Netflix is only $16.99 compared to $19.95. I loved the in-store exchange blockbuster gave you but once they changed the policy to in-store exchanges counting as rentals it was not worth it anymore. Before I could exchange a movie and watch it as they send my next one but not anymore. Bummer!!!

Special Announcement

I am so happy. Yesterday I got an e-mail stating I was selected to go in and test for the job I applied for at AT&T Uverse..........YAH!!!. I am scheduled for Thursday, April 16th at 8am (Early). They say I should be prepared to be there for 2 hours. I most likely will be taking the metra electric to the testing facility. I am so excited I don't know if I should be nervous or excited... I'm required take a Technical/Mechanical Test II (Click link for sample test) at the facility. Looking at the test I think it will be easy but they might surprise me with something complex. DON'T KNOW.

I ASK EVERYONE PRAY FOR ME THAT I WILL GET THE JOB. With all the pain I have been though NOW is my time. THANKS YOU GOD FOR ANSWERING MY PRAYERS.

I don't find out that if it dose not work out there is a job fair next week (April 21st).

The position was for Danville, Illinois but hopefully after training I can transfer to a garage closer to me. If not I will need to get a studio apartment in danville, I found one for around $500/month with a swimming pool.

Again I am very excited. I will be quite disapointed if I don't get it. But I guess I will accept it since there might be a better oppertunity. I believe I learned my lesson since the last dream job I had. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...

Update 2.3

So it is time for my promised April 09 Update. Well as I said in my last post referring to the hotel we stayed at we never got a hold of the owner ever again and probably never will. Bummer. (Oh well I guess I can do without)

So, I finally got a application into AT&T the guy I know said he would contact someone in Human Resources to try to get me in. Oh, That reminds me my family finally got AT&T Uverse installed. We love it so far much better HD then Comcast. You would not believe how may people are switching to AT&T Uverse in our area. We have seen several AT&T Installer trucks in our area. My dad went and returned our Comcast box to Comcast and he said when he got there and everyone there was returning their box. (The people in front and behind him.) TAKE THAT COMCAST. Comcast is finally getting a kick in their monopaly of Pay TV service to chicago. We have 4 TV's and got 4 HD boxes for them all even though only two are LCD 720p TV's. The HD is really wonderful nice picture even though our HD TV's are only 720p. CRAZY NICE PICTURE. AND AND FREE ANIME ON DEMAND... COOOOLLL. I watched an Anime called "Azumanga Daioh". Awesome. It is now one of my favorite Anime. (GETTING BACK ON TOPIC) AT&T requires you to use a 2Wire Gateway. Bummer I use a Netscreen Router. So my VPN dose not work. This 2Wire uses a new peotocol VDSL (G.993.1) to connect to the internet and the old ADSL Modem I used dose not work. BUMMER. I today received a Linksys PAP2T by UPS so now I can talk to people in Japan for much cheaper then using any American Phone Line. SWEET.

So anyways the Guy I know ended up visiting our house to check up on why his installer was taking 9 hours to install our service. (He was working on it from 8:40am to 5:40pm to install.) And he saw me and said "Joel, Right?" I almost forgot what he looked like. He told me that the only position available was in Danville. 2 1/2 hours away not fun but I can get a apartment for about $500 a month in Danville. Hey, I am so desperate I will take anything.
Also I started my own social website called mymiuchi. Invite every one please join and experience me new site. http://mymiuchi.com

Not a big deal but I found out someone who is a cousin to me though my gramma lives in Japan. COOL. I will contact him sometime.

Updates 2.2

It is time once again for my life updates. Well, My family just returned from the creation museum several hours ago. This was my second time going and the rest of my family's third time. I highly suggest everyone who reads this blog to please visit the creation museum in Cincinnati, Ohio. My parents are arranging a church trip sometime soon.

[WILL ADD PHOTO HERE LATER]

Here is some information copied from their website.

The state-of-the-art 70,000 square foot museum brings the pages of the Bible to life, casting its characters and animals in dynamic form and placing them in familiar settings. Adam and Eve live in the Garden of Eden. Children play and dinosaurs roam near Eden’s Rivers. The serpent coils cunningly in the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Majestic murals, great masterpieces brimming with pulsating colors and details, provide a backdrop for many of the settings.

The area within the museum has been divided into unusually configured spaces that allow for personal interaction with each of the 160 exhibits. Several parts of the museum, including the stunning forty-foot high portico with its cliff wall and floor-to-ceiling glass windows, flaunt open spaces and remarkable designs.

Walk through the Garden of Eden. The Tree of Life, central to the garden, stretches out its branches, laden with ripened fruits. Come face-to-face with a sauropod, a dinosaur of incredible dimensions. His monstrous frame moves through the low-lying thicket as he grazes on plants. Introduce yourself to our chameleons. Examine bones, a clutch of eggs from a dinosaur, an exceptional fossil collection, and a mineral collection. Walk through the Cave of Sorrows and see the horrific effects of the Fall of man. Sounds of a sin-ravaged world echo through the room. Finally, see the sacrificial Lamb on the cross, and the hope of redemption.

The themes of the exhibits resound in the theater presentations: Men in White, Six Days of Creation, The Last Adam, and Dinosaurs and Dragons. Our Special Effects Theater, complete with rumbling seats and rising mists, takes visitors on a fantastic quest to find the real purpose and meaning of life.

Each seat is a rocket launching pad in our Stargazers Planetarium. Prepare for lift-off. The digital projector showcases a spectacular gravity-defying spaceflight, a thrilling 22-minute ride billions of light years away to the vast outer regions of our universe. Breathtaking images and inconceivable distances make this cosmic journey under the dome a fully engaging experience.

See the scaffolding, smell the freshly-cut timbers in the busy work site of Noah’s Ark. Delve into the belly of the Ark and imagine the stalls full of animals, in close quarters. Listen to the sounds of thunderous, driving rains and the pounding of water against the sides of the great Ark.

You will find our dinosaurs living in our gardens and sauntering throughout our exhibit halls. These eye-blinking, mouth-chewing, tail-swinging creatures may startle a few of our guests. Children will be excited to see the variety of sculpted dinosaurs in our collection, including the stegosaur, dilophosaur, and of course, the giant Tyrannosaurus rex! They can saddle up on our triceratops and have their picture taken with a dinosaur.

I ended up talking to the owner of the hotel we stayed in. His hotel is in great need of a new network for customer to use. He even admitted to losing customers to the old system. He was very hooked on getting bids for a new system. We gave him a bid of $1,800.00 for 6 access points and all new equipment. We met his father and I think he was urging him to just take our bid without other bids. Would be nice to get the job.

In other places in my life I'm getting to the end of my chain. I have worked on and off at blockbuster and I'm almost out of money..... I can not wait until I can get a new job. I know, I will post my resume on this blog and please all employers read it and please help me. I want have a job in the information technology. VIEW HERE Well, I think that is all for now. Hope report much better things my next post.

COMING APRIL 2009 "UPDATES 2.3".

Updates 2.1

So what can be said? Not much has happened since my last post. I'm feeling lucky though. In one week I have filed out 4 applications and sent emails to 10 craigslist posting for IT personnel. So hopefully it get a response. I NEED A NEW JOB, ASAP OR I WILL GO CRAZY.

On a lighter note. I tried drawing a anime drawing and I was much more talented then I thought. I have always been very creative but I always thought I was more the computer creative type. Not a surprise though my mom is an artist. Shes also very creative.
This is not the only drawling I made. Its not bad, It could be much better though. Ho Yeah! I can't forget. "Copyright Joel Greene 2009. All Rights Reserved." LOL!!!!

I worked on Tuesday night doing inventory at my blockbuster store. I worked 7pm to 7:20am...... Yeah...... You heard me right. 12 hours and 20 minutes. And at 4 in the morning to 7 we went from 500 movies missing to 160... CRAZY!!! We had 6 people work. I was the last to leave excluding the manager. We each scanned about 1,400 to 1,700 items and about 25 items a minute. EXCLUDING THE MANAGER AND LADY FROM INVENTORY!!!

I also got told the other day that this girl360 project is getting put off for sometime. My dad did an opening order for a Dunkin Donuts today and ask the guy if he was getting surveillance cameras. He said he found someone to do it but he said he is opening some other stores and he said we can have the jobs. He also knows a bunch of other people in need of surveillance cameras. It sound like he is not happy with this current surveillance guy.
Sounds like fun. WO HO awesome...

My family will be taking a trip to the Creation Museam soon maybe in the next couple weeks. And we might be taking a vacation to Tennessee over July 4th... WO HO Awsome!!!

Website Designing

Well, Still have not worked any time in Olympia Fields for the past 3 weeks. I am figuring that I basically got laid off. I received a paycheck last week expecting it for 5 hours and found it to be for 21 hours. I guess I'm not complaining the hours was for something. So I had a meeting with a guy named Jerimiah Cobb yesterday he said he is designing a website for a client called http://girl360.net due to be launched Spring 2009. He asked me to help develop the site using my PHP know how. The site is a soical networking site for tween girls between the ages of 9 and 12. The site will contain features like a Memo Pad, Clubby Hole, Parental Companion Login, Girl of the Month, Posters of Quotes and GirlGab (Like a forum) and Content Rating System (Like digg.com). He is giving the client a extremely cheap price. It will not pay much but is worth being on my portfolio. One of the Members of their advisory board is the Senior VP of Yahoo. We are hammering a CMS named Sawa CMS to develop the backend.

Yesterday was also the day of FREE GRAND SLAM at Denny's. I took my Brother and Sister and got there at 9:00am. I had to get on the metra train to Chicago at 10:13am but forgot there might be a long line and there was. Some people said in areas where the weather is warmer the line was wrapped around the building 2 times. We were in line for 30 minutes. We got there with the line at the door we left and the line had build to the corner of the building. All I had to pay for was the drinks. I think the bill was for $8.??. It was good.

I would have made the train if it was not for the van not starting when I got out. We were at the Denny's in mokena and my dad came and started it and I made it to the mokena metra station and the train left at 10:43am and got there 12:13am. My mom came to mokena with my sister and picked up the van and siblings. I never realized how much slower the others trains went to the one by us. The one by us is an electric train, faster. It took hour and a half but the electric took 47 minutes. WOW. I talked with Jerimiah soon long I came back on the 3:45pm train. got back at 4:32pm.

Also the other day I finally started using facebook. The site is really quite amazing including I just found out the my grandmother is on there she just registered. I am weirded out I never though she would register for a site like that.

When the weather gets better I want to go to Osaka Garden in Jackson Park with my dad. I hope there is a lot of Japanese Events this year. I had a weired dream last night. I'm going to tell the whole thing, now get comfortable. You can skip to the end if you want but anyways. It started with me in a Traditional Japanese House with all the furnishings and I turned a corner and there was a whole Japanese Family sitting in a Traditional Way eating dinner. (Something you dip.) It was like I already known the family all my life and they know me. We all were wearing Kimonos including me. The parents had two daughter and one had known English so well she was teaching me Japanese during the dream. I seemed to like this girl a lot but in reality had no idea who she was...... But then everything went wrong as all of sudden my younger sister and brother come and start running in circles spilling our dinner and destroying the house then just as they came they disappeared. Anything was ruin and the girl and I went to the neighbor to get something.... Not sure what it was. The dream ended with everyone disappearing and I was alone was strange sounds coming out of no where. I still got goose bumps.

Life

Life comes and goes. I can not believe it has been over one year since I started writing in this blog. I believe every year has a different name. This year is going to be the year of growth and gain, last year was faith and discipline and the year before that was the year of "GET YOUR SORRY BUTT MOVING, LIFE WILL NOT WAIT FOR YOU.". So it is time for my occasional life update post.

The official close date of Blockbuster (My Job) has pasted and since then I have only worked one day in the Olympia Fields store. But before I start kicking my head I received an e-mail in response to my craigslist post looking for web design work. It dose not pay much but it is worth the reference in my portfolio to show to future jobs. The guy said he will contact me next week about meeting somewhere to have a discussion on details. I will post details on it after we meet. My dad and I just received our Business Cards in the mail about week ago. Now we can pass out cards and get a 90% more chance of get jobs.

As for the working only one day in the other store. (almost two weeks off) Well first off they transfered every employee except two to that store. Even Gwen my ex-store manager agrees they are trying to get us to quit so they can get out of paying Unemployment to us. I hate businesses that try underhanded tricks like that and they deserve to go under. I should be visiting my ex-store managers store on 33rd and king in Chicago something next week. I thought of taking the train because her store is only 4 blocks away from the tracks but all stations either over shoot the store by 10 blocks or under shoot it by 10 blocks, so annoying!!! I guess I will have to drive but also just on Sunday my tire popped from it being under inflated. I hassled with keeping it inflated the guys at the shop last time I got the tire replaced said my rim had so much rust the tire would not make a clean air tight seal. So I will hopefully make a trip to the shop today to replace the tire and rim. I believe Japan is right around the corner, I AM BELIEVING.

Sayonara,

Inauguration 2009

Well the Inauguration of Barack Husein Obama has pasted. I have been watching the media since 10 o'clock this morning and my brain feels like mush because of all the pinheads in politics and drive-by media. So I am going to like my top 10 idiotic moments of politics in the past year.

99. My dad must have been mad about Obama winning he got mad at our cat and called it Obama. (I know it 99 but it was funny.)
10. Matt Damon says “I need to know if she (Sarah Palin) thinks dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago because she’s going to have the nuclear code.” (Can I hear a PINHEAD!!!)
9. Also on Inauguration day Celeb on the news said she wants Obama to first focus on giving access to abortion to all women around the world... WHAT???
8. At a campaign event in Oregon, Barack Obama says, "I've now been in 57 states -- I think one left to go." (I know!!! Obama must be from the future. No, but there is 57 states of Islam.)
7. July 2008: Rev. Jackson said he would love to castrate Obama.
6. Obama said that he believes in his Muslim faith then he corrected him self to his christian faith.
5. Many people actually believe Sarah Palin said "I can see Russia from my house.". But that was actually Tina Fey impersonating Sarah Palin on SNL.
4. Joe Biden calls upon Missouri state Sen. Chuck Graham to "stand up," despite the fact that he is in a wheelchair.
3. On Inauguration day Rev. Lowery said brown can stick around -- (laughter) -- when yellow will be mellow -- (laughter) -- when the red man can get ahead, man -- (laughter) -- and when white will embrace what is right. (So who's the racist now???. I take that part of his prayer very offensively.)
2. Barack Obama bowls a 37 while attempting to woo blue collar voters in Pennsylvania.
1. Hillary Clinton gets caught lying about coming under sniper fire during a 1992 trip to Bosnia. She later claimed she "misspoke" and "said some things that I knew not to be the case."

Watch the classic John Edwards Video at the beginning of the primaries

#10 Comment from Matt Damon on Sarah Palin

Barack Obama is my president. I will honor him and hope that he makes to best decisions but yet I do not agree with him.

Updates 2.0

Happy Birthday to Me. Happy Birthday to Me. So my birthday has come and is going. Yep, I was born 22 years ago at 6:30 pm. Also I am only 14 closes away from my store closing. As I recall from a message my pastor gave one Sunday about change if you don't change you will be forced to change for the good or bad and for the longest time known that I needed to get a new job and I did not. So I am getting forced to change. Not that I'm being punished its just the way of life.

The last day to rent from my store is January 4th, 2009 and we are officially closed to the public January 11th, 2009. I'm trying to stay as long as I can to pack up stuff. There is several things I am trying to get from my store like the four TVs and brackets that we play dvds on and I would like to get the wood floor at the front of the store and Buy several movie titles that are not available anymore.

I'm looking for a new job because I don't want to be transfered to a new store. If I get transfered Me or someone else will be just tumbling that stores employees in the air and making trouble. I got several leads for possible employment like someone at my church is a training manager for UPS and was going to ask someone at his warehouse if I could get a job there. But I just found out today that they are not hiring but I met someone at my work that said AT&T is looking for 800 new Uverse installers this year end and laying off 1200 people in other department of AT&T. At the moment their installers are working 10 hours a day 6 days a week at $17 an hour. They are union but I guess I can live with that also the average customer is waiting 90 days for installation. If I worked there and the information above was true I would be making $1020 a week. With that I can get a NEW CAR and save up for my trips to Japan quickly. He said to call him today between 12 and 4 pm but I did and got a message saying he would be out of the office until January 2nd. So I guess I got to wait until then. PLEASE PLEASE PRAY FOR ME SO I WILL GET THE JOB I ALWAYS WANTED!!!

Japanese Gift Exchange

As I might have said before I made a friend at the rakugo event in Chicago back in June named Asakichi-san. Well the other day we both got done with do a gift exchange over the mail. He sent me two containers. First one with Matcha (Powdered Green Tea - MY FAVORITE) and the other with dried green tea leaves made by his grandparent who grows green tea. He sent his on Oct 30th and I received it Nov 10th. I sent mine on the 17th and he got it on Nov 22nd. It was a bummer though that he spent about $7 to send one to me but mine which was about the same weight and size and cost me $22 to send. The idiots at the UPS store said it would cost $120 to send by them. It did not even say that on there website. Oh, yeah I sent him a 1lb bag of Dunkin' Donuts Coffee, 1lb box of Fannie May Choclate Assortment with the chicago skyline printed on the box and couple American Flags I picked up for only a few cents each. He sent me and e-mail saying the choclate was already gone and he loved the coffee. He has become a great connection for the future when I go the Japan, He might make a great Tour Guide.

Blockbuster Inventory

I just though I would post some information on last nights inventory
[Speed Results]
Me 3415 Items at 26 per minute
Brittany 2244 Items at 17 per minute
Adrien 1715 Items at 15 per minute
Jermain but did not get a chance to write down his results.

We were there from 10:00am to 2:15am
Still have tonight

Yesterday during church my pastor was talking about three transitions of change and he just mentioned the word ask god what job you should be looking for. Then It me that even if I'm praying for a job I'm searching in the wrong place. Then I realized I'm trying to leave Blockbuster not stay. I do not what to transfer to another store so here is what I'm going to do. I asked last night that if I can transfer to a different department in Blockbuster such as Scanning, IT and and well HHHMMMMMM Well she said she would find out for me whats available.

Black Friday

TODAY WAS THE DAY. My Dad, Brother and Me went to grab some Black Friday Deals. My dad wanted the $128 Blu-ray player from Wal-mart and I wanted the 32" AOC LCD from RadioShack. First we went to Wal-Mart and were hunting everywhere for the players and they said they had 20-so in stock and only 6 were behind the electronics counter. They did something diffrent this year I though made things easier. First they had almost 1000% more in stock and more products then best buy usually has. The store was already open and they had the big ticket items on a pallets with black plastic wrapping and people stood around the pallets and had to wait for 5am. I think this was better then tickets for items because some people would get 10 tickets. but in this setup they could get about one item because they had to wait at the pallet. The lady at the counter gave us the blu-ray player 8 minutes early.

Then we went to RadioShack and got my TV. The 32" Wal-mart had was regulay $499.99 was on sale for $388 but one Radioshack had was regulay $599.99 and was on sale for $399.99 it had some better features and the brand had much better reviews then the other. Also all the Wal-mart TV were gone in 5 minutes but the Radioshack had less in stock but lasted longer. Some people at Wal-mart were waiting since the night before. I got at Radioshack at 5:15am and was the first in line.

Laminin

Tonight was our first night of Home Group and we watched a teaching on DVD by Andy Stanley where he talked about how big GOD really is. And in the end told a story about a man who was some medical guy who told him to go home and look up laminin a protein in the human body.

If anyone noticed it is shaped like the cross. GOD is in the BIGGEST of things and the smallest of things. Its funny that a lot of sites (EX: Wikipedia) do not show a picture of laminin or morph the picture. Make you think they do it on purpose. Here is Wikipedia's description of laminin.

Laminin is a protein found in the extracellular matrix, the sheets of protein that form the substrate of all internal organs also called the basement membrane. It is the major non-collagenous component of the basal lamina, such as those on which cells of an epithelium sit.[1] It has four arms that can bind to four other molecules. The three shorter arms are particularly good at binding to other laminin molecules, which is what makes it so great at forming sheets. The long arm is capable of binding to cells, which helps anchor the actual organs to the membrane.

The laminin protein is made up of three separate parts, called the A, B1, and B2 chains. That gives it a total of six "ends", which accounts for a lot of its flexibility in connecting up various kinds of molecules. Because of this, scientists who create biomaterials are extremely interested in the whole family of laminins[citation needed]. They are a family of glycoproteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding in almost every animal tissue. Laminins are secreted and incorporated into cell-associated extracellular matrices.

Laminin is vital to making sure overall body structures hold together. Improper production of laminin can cause muscles to form improperly, leading to a form of muscular dystrophy. It can also cause progeria.

Nick Movie

So, I just got done watching the premiere of the nick movie "iCarly: iGo to Japan". I don't usually watch that show but because of the theme of movie I did. I would like to say it was not terrible. It needed to be more accurate tough. First mistake was the steering wheel was on the wrong side in all vehicles including driving on wrong side of the road. (That can be fixed by just flipping the image.) You can tell they recorded the movie here in America. I give it a 3 out of 10.

Watch their sneak peek here:

We are so screwed!!!

So the other day we elected our next president of United States of America, Barack Husan Obama. So get ready for higher taxes and losing the war. I'm just glad he did not get a filler buster proof senate. This will keep him from going mad with power. But I always told people who did not like George W. Bush Jr. that they need to respect him even if they don't like him and that is what I'm going to do, even if it is MR. B.O.

Holloween Night

Well as I said early early this morning in a previous post. I wore my kimono at work and it was a huge success. I showed up and Gwen (My Store Manager) loved it. About 10-20 people though I dressed as a Samurai. I was aiming for that but I was unable to get a Katana (Japanese Sword) (Real or Fake) in time. Gwen was a Angel and Brittany (Key Holder) was a Devil. (-:

Also tonight I learned something very important. my blockbuster store is closing January 11th. But before I start banging my head on the keyboard. This might be what I need to push me to another job. rvgtfhrftb4ujymh I don't know if this is good thing or bad. I think I will pro sue the Geek Squad Job a little bit more.

Sayonara,
Joel Greene
